Most likely
a bright sparkly bit
lit from within
and a shattering of light
shards of 58 facets
something safely confined
in its warm cultural embrace
worth shrouded in illusion
or perhaps
a cast of itself
masking fire in opacity
reflecting life off its angles
rather than drawing it in
an introvert maintaining
external particulars
while hiding its soul from plain sight
And if I were to ask you
to hold my heart in your hand?
Cradled by palms
or even pinned to your sleeve
while it pumped out my life
dressed in grape jelly garnets
while dirty steel bows
laughed and danced
or perhaps
my steel heart skeleton scaffold
golden jewels caught in its crosshairs
encrusted and gaping with life
pounding
while it bleeds itself out
in a torrent of faceted drops
or of course the saccharine sweetness
of bubblegum dreams
of girlhood bows
and spun sugar beauty
and the perfection
found only in loss
And your heart
does it beat true?
And if I were to ask you
to listen as I spin a fanciful yarn?
Laced with beauty and desire
and seduction and love
and death and longing
and of course laughter?
As told through roses bows and facets
elaborate tales drawn
from delicate blooms of dead elephant tusk
and clear skies and lush grasses
or AstroTurf and Persian wells run dry
and the slaking of bodily thirsts
and the unconquerable evisceration
of diamondiferous wonders
of the darkest nights
and the purest virgins
all spanning millions of years
