The Sienna Gallery Emerging Artist Award ONE is given bi-annually to an emerging artist showing merit, skill, and innovation in their jewelry. All work considered for EAone must be of a kind (to submit works that are in edition or multiples please apply for EAtwo). The recipient receives a solo exhibition at the gallery. The artist will also receive different forms of support before the exhibition including a technical advisor and a concept advisor. The goal of this award is to give an emerging artist serious practical experience and the opportunity to be publicized, advertised and supported in as many ways possible at the beginning of their career.
Jurors for 2008 include: Jane Adlin, Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Anya KIvarkis, recent past recipient.This award is now sponsored by KLIMT02 who will be giving a year's membership to their online consortium to the EAone recipient. Thank you!!!
Applications are open to:
- Artists making one of a kind studio jewelry
- Makers who have not had a solo exhibition in a commercial gallery.
-Those who are currently taking classes must finish school by Fall 2008.
-Those who are not currently taking classes should view themselves as “emerging” (young in experience), and have recently entered or will shortly enter the professional world.
Application Requirements: ONE PC disk containing the below information
1. IMAGES (jpeg)
10 jpeg images of at least 8 different pieces.
At least 240 dpi.
Please follow this numbering system: last name, first initial, #1-10 (i.e. Bush_G_06)
2. INFO (text or Microsoft word document)
List of pieces: title, materials, date of completion, and dimensions for each work included.
Work should be numbered 1 – 10 in accordance with the image files
3. RESUME (text or Microsoft word document)
a one page resume
4. PROSPECTUS (text or Microsoft word document)
short paragraph stating prospectus for solo exhibition. (i.e. what you want to do for your show)
5. STATEMENT ( text or Microsoft word document)
one page statement of purpose, describing your approach to your work; and/or anything else to help jurors understand and appreciate your work.
